Eleven Women’s Hockey Players Named to Hockey East All-Academic Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced by the Hockey East Association today (June 28) that 11 Providence College women’s hockey players were named to the league’s 2016-17 All-Academic Team.

Seniors Cassidy Carels (Bruxelles, Manitoba) and Lauren Klein (Shoreview, Minn.) were named to the All-Academic Team for the third time in their careers. Seniors Arianna Reid (Lakeville, Minn.) and Alanna Serviss (Chicago, Ill.), juniors Brooke Boquist (Thunder Bay, Ontario) and Blair Parent (Blaine, Minn.), Madison Sansone (Lockport, N.Y.), sophomores Natasia Burzynski (Rye, N.H.) and Kate Friesen (Altona, Manitoba), as well as freshmen Avery Fransoo (North Battleford, Saskatchewan) and Clare Minnerath all earned All-Academic recognition.

In total, a record 123 student-athletes across the league achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during the 2016-17 season.
