Amber Yung Named To U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's ice hockey player Amber Yung (Rockville, Va.) is one of 22 players who have been named to the 2010 U.S. Women's Under-22 Select Team, that will participate in the USA Hockey Women's National Festival and the 2010 Under-22 Series. Yung recently completed her junior year at Providence as a defenseman.

Yung helped the Friars capture the 2010 HOCKEY EAST Regular-Season title and was runner-up for the HOCKEY EAST Defenseman of the Year award. She earned New England Hockey Writer's All-Star status and was named to the HOCKEY EAST All-Star Second Team. Yung participated in the U.S. Under-22 camp in December (2009).

The Women's National Festival will run from August 13-21 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The U-22 Team will depart the festival early and travel to Toronto, Canada to compete in the three-game Under-22 Series against Canada from August 18-21.

Each of the games in the Under-22 Series are slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on August 18th, 19th and 21st. All games in the series will be played at the MasterCard Centre.

Yung will be playing with some of the top women's ice hockey players in the country, including three members of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team: Hilary Knight, Jocelyne Lamoureux and Monique Lamoureux. The team will be coached by Brown University Head Coach Digit Murphy.
