Providence College senior ice hockey stand-out, Jenn Butsch (Berlin, Vt.) was named the Helen Bert Award winner on April 26, 2003 at the Mal Brown Club Awards Night. The Helen Bert Award is presented to a female senior athlete who has achieved an outstanding level of performance in academics and athletics during her undergraduate career at Providence College.

Butsch enjoyed her best season in 2002-03 as captain of the Friars, tallying career highs in goals (17), assists (18) and points (35). Butsch played a critical role as the Friars captured the inaugural HOCKEY EAST Regular Season and Tournament titles. Butsch was named a HOCKEY EAST First Team All-Star and a New England Hockey Writers Division 1 All-Star. She became the 23rd woman to score 100 or more points in her career with the Friars on February 8, 2003 and recorded her first career hat-trick on February 16. Butsch earned the 2003 team Captain's Award and Academic Award. In 2001-02 Butsch was named the team's Most Valuable Player and the College's Female Athlete of the Year for team sports. Butsch earned 2001 and 2002 ECAC All-Academic honors.

Butsch is a social science major and currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.34 and is the daughter of Dr. David and Linda Butsch of Berlin, Vt.
