March 30, 2011

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's ice hockey defenseman Amber Yung (Rockville, Va.) has been named to the New England Hockey Writers Division I Women's New England All Star team. The senior was one of 12 players selected for the honor by a panel of the region's media members and administrators. It is the second year in a row she has received the acknowledgement.

Yung was one of the most consistent defensemen in the country this season, and was recognized as a Second-team All-Star by the Hockey East conference. She played in each of the Friars' 35 games and registered a plus/minus rating of +19. Offensively, she accumulated 16 points (one goal, 15 assists), which tied for sixth among Hockey East defensemen.

Yung finishes her Providence career with 141 games played, which ties her for fourth on the program's all-time list. In four years, she contributed 51 points on eight goals and 43 assists. She was also a two-time Academic All-American entering this season.
