It was announced on Wednesday, March 28 that senior defenseman Kristin Gigliotti (Saquoit, N.Y.) was named to the New England Hockey Writers Div. I Women's All-Star team. Gigliotti helped lead the Friars to a second place finish in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament. Gigliotti, who earned the honor for the second year in a row, continues a streak that has seen at least one member of the Providence College women's ice hockey team named to the squad for 16 straight years.

On the season, Gigliotti registered 38 points on 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points, all of which were career highs for the defenseman. She was named a 2006-2007 First-Team HOCKEY EAST All-Star. She was also named HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week twice this season (11/20/06 and 2/26/07), and Player of the Month for November and February. In the HOCKEY EAST Tournament, she helped the Friars upset then eighth-ranked Boston College, as PC made their fourth title game appearance in five years. For her efforts in the HOCKEY EAST Tournament, Gigliotti was slected to the All-Tournament team, and she earned the distinction of being the only unanimous selection among the voters.

The New England Hockey Div. 1 Women's All-Star team cosists of two goaltenders, four defensemen, and six forwards. Including Gigliotti, HOCKEY EAST athletes make up six of the twelve honorees. The New England Hockey All-Stars and award winners will be honored at the hockey writers' annual banquet, which will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass.
