March 18, 2003

Providence College junior defenseman Kelli Halcisak (Grosse Ile, Mich.) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week on March 17, 2003.

Halcisak earned the honor for her strong play in the inaugural Women's HOCKEY EAST Tournament as she was involved in six of the eight goals scored by the Friars in their two victories, including both game-winners. On Saturday, March 15 Halcisak tied a career high for points as she assisted on five of the seven goals scored as Providence defeated Connecticut, 7-0. On Sunday, March 16 Halcisak assisted on the lone goal scored by sophomore Hilary Greaves (Cranston, R.I.) as the Friars shutout New Hampshire, 1-0, to claim the Women's HOCKEY EAST Tournament. Halcisak earned the Tournament's Most Valuable Player award and was named to the All-Tournament Team. At the League award banquet earlier in the weekend Halcisak was recognized as the League's scoring champion (6-15-21) and named a First Team All-Star.
