    HYANNIS, Mass. - Providence College women's ice hockey junior defenseman Rebecca Morse (Westfield, N.J.) was named to the 2013 WHEA Honorable Mention All-Star Team on Friday, March 8 at the annual Championship Awards Banquet in Hyannis, Mass. Morse was one of three defenseman named to the roster.

    Morse leads the Friar's defensive core in scoring with a career high 21 points on five goals and 16 assists. Her 21 points rank her seventh on the team in scoring and tied for third in the league for overall defenseman scoring. She notched five multi-point games this season, including two three-point games in league play. Morse has tallied one power-play goal and one game-winner for the Friars this season.

    Morse has had a standout career for the Friars since her freshman debut. She has played in 101 career games in a Friar jersey, collecting 51 points on 13 goals and 38 assists. For her career, Morse has earned a strong plus/minus rating of plus 32.

    Following her freshman campaign, Morse was named to the 2011 WHEA All-Rookie Team. Also during her freshman season, Morse collected Hockey East Rookie of the Week (Feb. 28, 2011) and Rookie of the Month for February honors.

    Morse and the Friars will take on fourth-ranked and top-seeded Boston University tomorrow, Saturday, March 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the first semifinal game of the Hockey East Tournament. The game will take place at the Kennedy Rink in the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Hyannis, Mass.
