March 1, 2007

It was announced on Thursday, March 1 that senior defenseman Kristin Gigliotti (Saquoit, N.Y.) was named Player of the Month by HOCKEY EAST. For the month of February, Gigliotti registered 14 points on 4 goals and 10 assists.

Gigliotti, who was last named Player of the month in November, helped lead the Friars to the third seed in the HOCKEY EAST tournament with a dominating performance in PC's two victories against Connecticut on February 24 and 25. On Saturday February 24, Gigliotti assisted on the game-winning goal, then on Sunday, February 25, she scored the game-winner. On February 25 she eclipsed the 100-point career milestone with two goals and two assists versus the Huskies. All told, she had 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) on the weekend. On the season, Gigoliotti has registered 38 points on 17 goals and 21 assists, all of which are career highs for the defenseman.

Gigliotti and the Friars return to action against Boston College on Saturday, February 3 in the semi-finals of the HOCKEY EAST Tournament. The game, taking place at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H., will be played at 3:00 p.m.
