Providence College freshman goaltender Jana Bugden (Corner Brook, Newfoundland) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week on February 24.

Bugden earned the honor for her strong play in Providence's final two regular season HOCKEY EAST games against No. 5 New Hampshire and Maine. Bugden made 35 saves on 39 shots, including several breakaway attempts, to help the Friars defeat the Wildcats on Saturday, Febraury 22, 7-4. On Sunday, February 23 Bugden made 14 saves on 15 shots to defeat Maine, 2-1, and help the Friars clinch the inaugural Women's HOCKEY EAST regular season championship.

Providence College's next game is on Friday, February 28 at Niagara's Dwyer Arena at 7:00 p.m.
