WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Providence College women's hockey freshman forward Cassidy Carels (Bruxelles, Manitoba) was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week today (Jan. 20). Carels earned her third weekly honor after lifting the Friars to a 4-3 comeback win over No. 9 Boston University on Jan. 17 with a four-point performance.

Carels notched a career-best four point game on two assists and two goals against BU. Carels' two goals were the game-tying and game-winning goals of the match-up. It marked her third game-winning goal this season, the most of anyone on the team.

It marked her fourth multipoint game this season and her fifth point against a ranked opponent. This is Carels third time being named Hockey East Rookie of the Week (10/7 and 11/25). The rookie forward has also been recognized as a weekly Hockey East top-performer three times this season (11/11, 1/6 and 1/13). Carels leads the Friars in goals (13) and ranks 12th among nation rookies with 18 points.

Carels and the Friars are back in action with a home-and-home series against Connecticut. The series will start at Connecticut on Jan. 25 and conclude on Jan. 26 at Schneider Arena. The puck will drop at 2:00 p.m. in both games.
