PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In an announcement made by Hockey East on Jan. 11, three Friars were named Hockey East Top Performers. Senior Lexi Romanchuk (San Jose, Calif.), freshman Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario), and freshman Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) each earned the honor.

Romanchuk led the Friars to a weekend sweep of RIT with an assist in the team’s 5-1 win on Jan. 8. Romanchuk extended her point streak to three games on Jan. 9, after scoring a power play goal that eventually served as the game winning goal.

Putigna added a goal and an assist over the weekend, helping on Jan. 8 and scoring on Jan. 9. The freshman forward collected an unassisted breakaway goal on Jan. 9 and continued her point streak to four games.

Myers backstopped the Friars to back-to-back wins, allowing only one goal per game and made 33 saves.

The Friars will face No. 8 Northeastern at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 13.
