PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's ice hockey goaltender Nina Riley (Lexington, Mass.) has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the Women's Hockey East Association. It is the first time the sophomore has been recognized with the honor.

Riley earned the acknowledgment for her work in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Robert Morris at Schneider Arena. She halted 24 shots in the game, 13 of which came in the third period.

It is the sixth weekly honor the Providence program has garnered this season.

The Friars return to action this Sunday, when they play a neutral site contest against Northeastern. The game will be held at The Bog Ice Arena in Kingston, Mass. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
