SONTHOFEN, GERMANY - Providence College women's ice hockey senior Genevieve Lacasse (Kingston, Ontario) will add to her international credentials this week when she suits up for the Canadian Under-22/Development Team in the Meco Cup in Germany. The tournament, formerly known as the MLP Cup, also includes national teams from Finland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany.

Lacasse is one of two goaltenders on Team Canada, which opens the tournament against the host Germans on Tuesday, January 3, at 1 p.m. eastern.

Last January, Lacasse led the Canadians to their eighth MLP title in the last nine years. She stopped every shot she faced while earning three victories in net. This past August, Lacasse earned her first victories for the senior Canadian National Team, defeating Slovakia and Team USA in the 12 Nation's Tournament.

Lacasse is already one of the most prolific goaltenders in Providence College history. She holds the school records for career saves (3,027) and saves in a season (948), and she is just one win shy of tying the mark for career wins (58, currently held by Jana Bugden '07).

The Friars will be back in action on Friday January 6, when they welcome Robert Morris to Schneider Arena at 7 pm. The same teams will meet again on Saturday at Schneider with the puck dropping at 1 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (401) 865 GO PC or by visiting Friars.com.

On Tuesday, January 10, Providence will play the second, outdoor game in program history, facing off with Dartmouth at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass. The game will start at 3 p.m. and tickets are available by phone at 877-REDSOX9 and online at redsox.com/frozenfenway .
