DURHAM, N.H. -- Providence College was defeated by the University of New Hampshire, 6-2, in women's ECAC hockey action on Saturday afternoon, February 14th at Durham, N.H.
The Wildcats' Brandy Fisher scored the game's first goal at the 5:25 mark in the first period. PC's Jennifer Bill netted a goal for Providence at the 8:22 mark in the first period to even the score at 1-1. New Hampshire then scored four unanswered goals from Nicki Luongo, Brandi Kerns, Kerry Maher and Melisa McKenzie to go ahead 5-1. Corinne Rosen netted a power play goal for the Friars at the 10:47 mark to make the score 5-2, but the Wildcats' Maher scored her second goal of the game at the 16:16 mark in the third period to end the game at 6-2.
New Hampshire goaltender Alicia Roberts made 14 saves in the win. Providence goaltender Heather Wilcox made 27 stops in the loss.
New Hampshire is now 23-4-1 overall and 14-1-1 in the ECAC. Providence College is now 8-18-0 overall and 8-9 in the ECAC.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, February 14 against Colby College at 2:00 p.m.
