Lady Friars Shutout Brown, 2-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College defeated Brown University, 2-0, Friday night in the third annual Mayor's Cup game, in women's hockey action at Schneider Arena.

PC's Stacy Kreger netted the game's first goal in the first period at the 13:18 mark. The Friars' Kerstin Matthews scored her first collegiate goal in the third period to give Providence a two-goal lead over Brown, which became the final score.

Providence netminder Heather Wilcox made 26 saves for the Friars in the win. Brown goaltender Alison Brewer made 32 stops in the loss.

Providence's overall record is now 5-15-0 and 5-6-0 in the ECAC, while Brown is now 9-5-3 overall and 6-3-2 in the ECAC.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, January 24 when they travel to Brown University to play at at 7:00 p.m.
