Lady Friars Fall to UNH in Husky Invitational
BOSTON, Mass. -- Providence College was defeated by the University of New Hampshire, 8-1, in women's hockey action at the Husky Invitational on Sunday, January 18 at Boston, Mass.
PC's Myia Yates scored the lone goal for the Friars, which came in the third period at the 2:58 mark. The Wildcats netted one goal in the first period and two in the beginning of the second period, all from Brandy Fisher to give UNH a three goal lead. New Hampshire scored another goal in the second period and four more in the third period to win the game 8-1.
New Hampshire goaltender Melissa MacDonald made 17 saves in the win. Providence goaltender Megan Marfione made 44 stops in the loss.
Providence College is now 4-15 overall and 4-6 in the ECAC.
The Friars return to action on Friday, January 23 against cross town rival Brown in the third annual Mayor's Cup at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.
