Friars Defeat Tigers, 6-2
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Providence College defeated Princeton University, 6-2, in ECAC women's ice hockey action on Sunday, December 7 at Princeton, N.J. Freshman forward Jessica Tabb and senior co-captain Catherine Hanson led the way for the Friars each registering four points.
Providence opened up the game scoring three goals in the first period. Junior forward Myia Yates scored two of the three goals at 7:17 and 8:42 while Tabb netted the other goal at the 12:00 mark which proved to be the game-winner and a short-handed goal. In the second period, PC received two goals from Hanson at the 00:52 and 8:13 mark to go ahead 5-0. Princeton's freshman defenseman Annamarie Holmes scored a power play goal at the 18:25 mark in the second period. Sophomore defenseman Dani Holtschlag scored a power play goal in the third period for the Tigers at the 12:37 mark to make the score 5-2. The Friars' Tabb netted a goal at the 19:56 mark in the third period to make the score 6-2.
Providence goaltender Heather Wilcox made 13 saves in the win. Princeton goaltenders Tammy Orlow and Mie Kingsley combined to make 21 stops in the loss.
Providence's overall record is now 3-6 overall and 3-3 in the ECAC.
The Friars return to action on Sunday, December 28 at the Brown Holiday Tournament against the University of New Hampshire at 4:00 p.m.
