Friars Fall to Cornell, 3-2
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Cornell defeated Providence College, 3-2, in ECAC women's ice hockey action on Saturday, November 22 at Providence, R.I.
Cornell's sophomore Colette Bredin scored the first goal of the game in the second period at the 2:19 mark. PC's junior Myia Yates netted a power play goal at the 10:05 mark in the second period to even the score at 1-1. Providence College junior Katie Lachapelle put the Friars ahead, 2-1, at the 17:07 mark in the second period. Cornell's Bredin scored her second goal of the game on a power play at the :25 mark in the third period to tie the game at 2-2. Freshman Danielle Bilodeau scored a power play goal, which proved to be the game-winner for Cornell at the 11:09 mark in the third period to go ahead 3-2.
Cornell goaltender Alanna Hayes made 18 saves in the win. Providence goaltender Megan Marfione made 17 stops in the loss.
Cornell's overall record is now 5-1 overall and 5-1 in the ECAC, while Providence dropped to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the ECAC.
The Friars return to action on Friday, November 28 at the Princeton Invitational against the University of Minnesota at 6:30 p.m.
