BOSTON, MASS. - The Providence College women's ice hockey team fell to #7 Boston University, 2-1, Sunday at Walter Brown Arena.

The Friars held a 1-0 lead until the late stages of the third period, when the Terriers rallied for a pair of power play goals.

At 15:21, BU's Kayla Tutino stood in front of the PC net and tipped home a Tara Watchhorn shot from the high slot to even the game, 1-1.

Just under three minutes later, at 18:18, the host's Jill Cardella scored the game winner in similar fashion. This time, defenseman Kasey Boucher fired the shot from the right point. The puck deflected off a skate and then the stick of Cardella before crossing the goal line for the eventual, 2-1.

The Friars took a 1-0 nothing edge moments into the first period. At 5:04, senior Ashley Cottrell (Sterling Heights, Mich.) received an Abby Gauthier (Lynn, Mass.) pass in the neutral zone. Cottrell then sped into the attack zone, skated around the defense and scored on a forehand for her seventh of the season.

Friar senior goaltender Genevieve Lacasse (Kingston, Ontario) made 34 saves. BU's Kerrin Sperry stopped 25 shots.

The teams split a home-and-home series this weekend, as PC defeated the Terriers, 4-3, Saturday night at Schneider Arena.

The Friars close out the first semester portion of their schedule this Thursday, December 8, when they host Harvard. Face-off at Schneider Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (401) 865 GO PC or by visiting Friars.com.
