Women's Hockey Defeats Maine, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars defeated the University of Maine Black Bears, 1-0, in ECAC women's ice hockey action at PC's Schneider Arena. Freshman goaltender Amy Quinlan (Baton Rouge, La.) stopped 23 shots to lead Providence to the victory.

Culgin scored the game's lone goal at 5:52 of the second period. She received a pass from sophomore defenseman Melanie Ruzzi (Burnsville, Minn.) on a two-on-one breakout and beat Maine netminder Amanda Cronin (York, Maine) for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

With the victory, Providence improved to 9-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 in ECAC action while Maine dropped to 5-6-0 and 2-5-0 in conference play.

Providence College returns to action on Saturday, December 3 when New Hampshire travels to Schneider Arena for a 2:00 p.m. game.
