Women's Hockey Earns 6-0 Win Against Maine
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Sophomore Jess Tabb scored two goals to lead the Providence College Friars to a 6-0 win against the University of Maine in women's ECAC hockey action on Sunday, November 28 at Providence, R.I. After a scoreless first period, Tabb put the Friars on the scoreboard just 27 second into the second period. The Friars got two more goals in the period from Kerstin Matthews at 5:36 and Jenn Butsch at 8:32 to take a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. The Friar offense continued to press in the third period. Tabb added her second tally of the afternoon when she one timed a pass from four feet in front of the net for the team's fourth goal at the 2:07 mark. Danielle Culgin and Jennifer Kranz each added a goal to close out the scoring for the Friars. Sara DeCosta and Brigid Keady combined to make 20 stops in net for the Friars. With the win, Providence raised its record to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in ECAC play, while Maine dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-7 in league play. Providence College will return to action on Friday, December 3 at St. Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 1999 Schneider Arena, Providence, R.I.
