Women's Hockey Defeated by Harvard, 6-1

November 14, 1998 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Harvard University defeated the Providence College Friars, 6-1, in women's hockey action on Saturday, Nov. 14 at PC's Schneider Arena.
Harvard controlled the first period of play, outshooting the Friars, 20-5. The Crimson got goals in the first period by Kim McManama, Tara Dunn (two) and Tammy Shewchuk.
Harvard added two more goals in the second period by McManama and Jen Botterill before PC sophomore Jessica Tabb netted the Friars' only goal on a breakaway at 16:30.
PC sophomore goaltender Sara DeCosta made 42 saves for the Friars. Crystal Springer recorded 25 stops for the Crimson in the win.
With the win, Harvard raised its record to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in ECAC action while Providence fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Providence College will return to action against Northeastern on Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence.
