ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Providence College Friars were defeated by Cornell University, 4-2, in ECAC women's ice hockey action on Friday, November 10 at Ithaca, N.Y.

The Friars recorded the game's first goal at 15:52 of the first period when freshman defenseman Meredith Roth (Dubuque, Iowa) converted on a power-play attempt. Cornell responded quickly to tie the game 17 seconds after Roth gave PC a 1-0 lead. Freshman forward Briana Jentner (Akron, Ohio) evened the game for Cornell on passes from sophomore Lindsay Murao (Richmond, B.C.) and junior Jenel Bode (Yorkton, Sask.) as the two teams headed to the first intermission tied at one goal a piece.

Providence sophomore forward Danielle Culgin (Framingham, Mass.) recorded PC's second power-play goal of the game at 17:12 of the third period after receiving passes from junior forwards Jackie Tamsin (Branford, Conn.) and Jennifer Kranz (Waukesha, Wis.).

Cornell tied the game early in the third period. Jentner scored her second goal of the game with the assists again going to Bode and Murao at 1:11. The Big Red scored what proved to be the game-winning goal when Bode recorded Cornell's first power play goal of the year to beat Friar junior netminder Brigid Keady (Northfield, Ill.) at 3:03. Cornell added an empty-net goal with 31 seconds remaining in the third period to take the 4-2 decision.

Providence College will return to action on Saturday, November 11 when the Friars travel to St. Lawrence for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff.
