Women's Hockey Wins Season Opener Against Saint-Laurent, 6-2
November 8, 1998 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Friars defeated Saint-Laurent, 6-2, in women's hockey action on Saturday, Nov. 7 at PC's Schneider Arena. Sophomore defenseman Valerie Bono led the Friar offense with two goals. PC sophomore Corinne Rosen tallied the first goal of the game at 14:53 of the opening period. Both teams traded goals and were tied 2-2 until PC senior Katie Lachapelle tallied what proved to be the game-winning goal at 3:45 of the second period. Bono added the next two tallies for the Friars at 13:33 of the second and 5:50 of the third. Senior Myia Yates closed out the scoring for PC with a short-handed goal at 17:08 of the third period. PC sophomore goaltender Sara DeCosta made 17 saves for the Friars. Sylvie Marsolais recorded 55 stops for Saint-Laurent. With the win, Providence raised its record to 1-0 overall , while Saint-Laurent fell to 4-1. Providence College will return to action against Harvard on Nov. 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence.
