Women's Hockey Falls To No. 2/3 Boston College, 8-0

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Providence College women's hockey team fell to No. 2/3 Boston College, 8-0, at Kelley Rink in Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Oct. 31 in Hockey East action. The game was Providence's first Hockey East game of the season. With the loss Providence falls to 0-8-1 (0-1-0 HE) on the season, while Boston College remains unbeaten at 6-0-1 (2-0-0 HE).

The Eagles capitalized on a power-play goal 4:03 into the first period to take a 1-0 lead, as Emily Field found the back of the net for her first goal of the year. Emily Pfalzer and Megan Keller were credited with assists on the play. Field notched her second of the game to give BC at 2-0 lead at the 10:42 mark, as Toni Ann Miano and Andie Anastos teamed up to create the scoring opportunity and earned assists. The Eagles maintained their 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Eagles recorded four goals in the second period to take a 6-0 lead over the Friars, as BC held a 29-5 advantage in shots after two periods. Providence's best scoring opportunity came at 10:27 of the second period as Haley Frade (Marion, Mass.) placed a shot on goal, which rebounded quickly off of the Eagle's goaltender. Frade collected the rebound and flipped it over the goalie, but the attempt was knocked down by a defender.

Boston College's goals were scored by four different players in the period, including Miano (11:38), Tori Sullivan (13:15), Alex Carpenter (15:30) and Haley McLean (16:43).

BC tacked on two more goals in the third period in a span of 59 seconds to take the 8-0 victory. Sullivan and Carpenter went back-to-back at 6:10 and 7:09, respectively.

The Friars return to action against Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:00 p.m.
