PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars fell to the Princeton Tigers, 2-1 in women's ECAC hockey action, on Saturday February, 26 at Schneider Arena.

Princeton's Nikola Holmes gave the Tiger's a 1-0 lead, on a power play goal at the 12:52 mark of the second period, assisted by Dani Holtschlag.

The Tiger's extended their lead to 2-0 when Andrea Kilbourne beat PC goalie Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) for her 18th goal of the season, at 9:48 of the third.

Providence's Jennifer Bill (Minnetrista, Minn.) put the Friars on the scoreboard at 17:13 mark, as she beat Tiger netminder Sarah Alhquist high to the glove side, narrowing the Tiger lead to 2-1.

The Tiger's escaped with a 2-1 victory, but not without controversy. In the game's final seconds it appeared as though PC had tie the game at two, however the officials waved off the goal, claiming that the whistle had blown before the puck crossed the line.

Princeton's Alhquist stopped 24 shots for the victory, while DeCosta made 29 saves for the Friars.

With the win, Princeton improves to 11-10-5 overall, 9-9-3 in the ECAC, the Friars fall to 17-9-3 and 11-7-3 in league play.
