CHESNUT HILL, MASS. (February 20, 2005). -- The No. 10 Providence College women's hockey team defeated Boston College, 4-2, at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Friars broke a three-game losing skid and improve to 16-10-4 overall.

Senior Hilary Greaves (Cranston, R.I.) put the Friars on the scoreboard at 4:05 of the first period with an assist by freshman Rachel Crissy (Naperville, Ill.) and Katelynn Laffin (Norwell, Mass.). At 11:51, Lee-J Mirasolo scored her second career goal that tied the game, 1-1.

In the second period, senior Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) netted her 19th goal of the season. Classmate Emily Gryp (Lexington, Mass.) and sophomore Sonny Watrous (Albuquerque, N.M.) assisted on the play. The Friars pulled away even further with a goal by junior Karen Thatcher (Douglas, Mass.) assisted by Watrous and Zimmerman. With the assist, Zimmerman reached her 150-point career mark, as one of only 14 Friars to ever reach that feat.

With 23 seconds left in regulation, senior Kerri Sanders fired a goal past Friar netminder Amy Thomas (Austin, Texas) that slimmed the Providence advantage, 3-2.

After a missed opportunity to score by the Eagles, Zimmerman gathered the puck and skated towards the empty net and recorded her second goal of the night.

Thomas posted 16 saves, while Alison Quandt posted 25 for the Eagles.

Providence will hit the road for a home-and-home series with No. 7 New Hampshire on Saturday and Sunday, February 26-27. Both games are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop.
