Women's Hockey Defeated By No. 1 Boston College, 7-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Providence College women’s ice hockey team was defeated by No. 1 Boston College, 7-1. The Friars moved to 10-21-2 (6-15-2 WHEA) and the Eagles improved to 33-0-0 (23-0-0 WHEA).  

Boston College opened the scoring at 4:31 in the first period with a goal from Dana Trivigno.

Ten minutes later, Providence evened the score with an unassisted tally from Lexi Romanchuk (San Jose, Calif.). The senior defender took a one-timer off a rebound that popped out to the center point. Romanchuk’s shot cleanly beat BC’s Katie Burt.  

With 19 seconds remaining in the first, BC’s Toni Ann Miano notched a power-play goal.

Haley Skarupa gave the Eagles the lead with a power play goal at 3:46 in the second period.

The Eagles added three more goals in the second period, coming at 6:42 from Alex Carpenter, at 11:19 from Kali Flanagan, and at 17:40 from Dana Trivigno.  

Boston College notched their seventh of the game at 7:43 in the third when Miano added her second of the game.


 

 

Sarah Bryant (Bethlehem, Pa.) started in net for the Friars and made 30 stops in 26:52 minutes of play. Allie Morse (Cottage Grove, Minn.) played 33:08 minutes and made 18 saves. 

The Friars will be back in action for their final regular season game at Schneider Arena to face the No. 1 Eagles at 1:00 p.m. The game will begin with a short ceremony to honor the program’s graduating seniors.
