PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's ice hockey team was defeated by the Big Green of Dartmouth on Wednesday night in Schneider Arena, 5-1.

Dartmouth, ranked No. 1 in the nation and second in the ECAC standings, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before Jenn Butsch scored her third goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1 on an assist from Holley Tyng 8:42 into the first period. That would be the only goal the Friars would connect on as the Big Green went on to score four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 victory.

In goal for Dartmouth, Meaghan Cahill earned the win stopping 19 shots, while allowing the only Providence goal of the evening. Freshman Amy Quinlan made 32 saves for the Friars.

Providence College returns to action on Saturday, January 20 when the Friars travel to New Hampshire for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff.
