Women's Hockey Falls to St. Lawrence

Val Bono scores team leading fourth PP goal for Friars.

CANTON, N.Y. - Caroline Trudeau scored two goals, including the game winner, as St. Lawrence defeated the Providence College Friars, 3-2, in women's hockey action on Saturday, Jan. 2 at St. Lawrence's Appleton Rink.

St. Lawrence tallied the only goal of the first period when Stacy Boudrias converted at the 13:34 mark.

Freshman Jackie Tamsin evened the game for the Friars with her fourth goal of the season at 6:04 of the second period. Trudeau netted her first tally of the game as St. Lawrence took a 2-1 lead at 8:46 of the second. Val Bono forced the second tie of the period when she scored her team leading fourth power-play goal of the season for the Friars at 9:44.

Twenty six seconds into the third period, Trudeau netted the final goal of the game and what proved to be the game winner for St. Lawrence.

With the win, St. Lawrence raised its record to 5-6 overall and 3-5 in ECAC action, while Providence fell to 6-3-2 overall and 5-3-2 in league play.

Providence College will return to action against Cornell on Jan. 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Ithaca, N.Y.
