Bob Deraney And Former Friar Genevieve Lacasse To Compete In IIHF World Championships

The IIHF World Championships will take place in Malmo, Sweden.

At PROVIDENCE: 2007-2008... Scored nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points... Scored five power-play goals for the Friars, good for second most on the team... Scored two goals against Connecticut in the Hockey East semifinals and was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team... She was named to the Hockey East All-Academic team... Competed for Finland in the 2008 U-22 European Air Canada Cup scoring one goal and four assists... Played in the 2008 IIHF World Champhionships, scoring three goals and two assists... Was Voted Team Finland's Most Outstanding Forward.

2006-2007... Played in 34 of the Friars' 36 games as a sophomore... Scored a team high 18 goals... Added 11 assists for 29 points... Her 29 points were the most by a sophomore, and the third highest total on the team... Led the team with 12 power-play goals... Scored 10 power-play goals in HOCKEY EAST play, ranking her tied for first in the league... She was named to the HOCKEY EAST All-Tournament team, as she scored a goal and an assist in PC's final two games... Led the Friars in game-winning goals with four... Scored a career-high two goals on four different occasions during the 06-07 season... Notched a career-high four points, on two goals and two assists versus Vermont (2/4/07... BEFORE PROVIDENCE: A sophomore transfer from the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she played hockey her freshman year... Tallied eight goals and six assists in 27 games as a Bulldog... During the season of 2004-2005 played ten games with the Finnish National Team... Two years ago competed in the Finnish League (Sm-Sarja) with club team Ilves (Tampere), finishing third in league scoring and second in goal scoring during regular season with 19 goals and 14 assists... Led the team to a second place finish in 2004-2005 in the National Championship tournament... Went on to win an Under-20 Finnish National Championship with Ilves Under-20 club team in 2005, finishing as top goal scorer in the championship tournament... Has been a member of the Under-22 National team from 2002-2005 and was the leading scorer for two out of three seasons... Played in Finnish League in 1998-2003 with club team Tappara (Tampere), where she was named team MVP in 2002-2003, and scoring leader in 2003-2004... Also was a member of the Finnish Under-17 National Soccer team in 2001.
