Three Field Hockey Players Earn Longstrenth/NFHCA All-Region Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Three Providence College field hockey players received All-Northeast Region honors on Thursday, November 19. Senior Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine) and junior Jaime Lipski (Dallas, Pa.) were named First-Team All-Northeast Region, while junior Julie Ruggieri (Barrington, R.I.) earned Second-Team All-Northeast Region honors. This is the second-consecutive season which three Friars have made the NFHCA All-Region team.

This is the third-consecutive season that Poulin has been named NFHCA First-Team All-Northeast Region. Poulin, also was named First-Team All-BIG EAST recorded 30 points in the 2009 season on 14 goals and two assists. She finished her career ranked seventh on the Friars all-time scoring list, Poulin finished with 110 points on 49 goals and 12 assists. Her 49 goals are fourth-most all-time at Providence.

Lipski earns NFHCA First-Team All-Northeast Region honors for the first time in her career. Last season, Lipski was named to the Second-Team All-Northeast Region. Lipski, who also was named Second-Team All-BIG EAST for the first time, played deep center mid for the Friars this season. She provided six assists on the season.

Ruggieri was named to the NFHCA Second-Team All-Northeast Region Team for the first time in her career. She finished the 2009 season with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. She also was named Second-Team All-BIG EAST for the first time in her career.

Poulin and Lipski are eligible for 2009 All-America honors by virtue of their First-Team All-Region status. Poulin was a Third-Team All-American in 2008.
