PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week on Monday, November 2. Chamberlain, who was named the Preseason BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Year, also has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll twice this season. In her 80 game career, she has a 1.48 goals against average with a .775 save percentage. Chamberlain also has 20 shutouts credited to her name.

Chamberlain provided 13 saves and recorded her third shutout of the season, in a 2-0 week for the Friars. She recorded 11 saves in a 2-0 victory against Boston University on Friday, October 30. The Terriers pulled their goalkeeper with 13 minutes remaining in the game to add an additional attacker on the field. Despite the increased pressure, Chamberlain still kept BU off the scoreboard. Against Vermont, she posted two saves in a 4-0 victory, in which she played 49:35 minutes before being relieved by Kathi Weidman (Millersville, Pa.) in the net. Chamberlain and Weidman combined for PC's fourth-straight shutout. Chamberlain has seen the majority of action in the cage as the Friars have held their opponents scoreless in the past 285.39 minutes of play.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, November 7 when they face No. 5 Syracuse at 11:00 a.m. The game will be the first of two BIG EAST Championship semifinal matchups. All BIG EAST Tournament games will be held at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. The Championship Game is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8.
