PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey player Jessica Lane (South Windsor, Conn.) has been selected to play in the 2008 NFHCA Division I Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, November 22. The game will take place at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. at 7:30 p.m. Lane is among the list of 38 student-athletes who have been named to the roster. This season Lane has played in 12 of the Friars' 18 games at the central midfield position. Despite missing six contests due to an injury, Lane still managed to earn the respect of the selection committee. In her 12 appearances, she has recorded seven points on one goal and five assists. During her four-year career with the Friars, she has led the squad to back-to-back BIG EAST Championship Game appearances (2006, 2007) and has scored 38 career points on six goals and 26 assists. With two regular-season games remaining on this year's schedule, Lane is tied for seventh all-time at Providence in career assists (26). A year ago, Lane earned All-BIG EAST Second-Team and NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region First-Team honors. She also was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. The Friars are currently 10-8 overall and ranked 20th in the latest STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll. Providence will return to the field on Sunday, October 26 against BIG EAST foe Georgetown at Noon. The game will be played at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Providence concludes its regular-season schedule with a home contest against Massachusetts on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I.
