PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey team is tied for 20th in the latest STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll, released on Tuesday, October 21. It marks the third-straight week the Friars have earned a top-20 ranking. Providence is one of five BIG EAST Conference teams in the top-20. Syracuse leads the way with a third-place ranking (881 points), followed by Connecticut who earned 743 points for sixth place. The Orange are receiving 11 first-place votes in the poll, while the Huskies check in with four first-place votes. Louisville is ranked 11th (448 points) and Providence and Rutgers are tied for 20th with 71 points each. The Friars return to action with back-to-back road games against Brown and BIG EAST foe Georgetown. Providence's cross-city match-up with the Bears is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 at 4:00 p.m. The Friars' game against the Hoyas is scheduled for Noon on Sunday, October 26 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md.
