Syracuse University Orangewomen (8-6-0/1-2-0): The Orangewomen host a critical BIG EAST game this Friday, October 18 as Providence comes to town. Both Syracuse and the Friars are looking to qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament that takes place in Syracuse on November 8 and 10. The Orangewomen have split their last six games and have lost two consecutive BIG EAST contests. Syracuse has been led this season by senior midfielder Kristin Aronowicz (Exton, Pa.) and junior midfielder Jackie Sheaffer (Richfield, Pa.). They each have 9 points. Aronowicz leads the team in goals with four and sophomore forward Ann-Marie Guglieri (Carmel, N.Y.) has a team-high four assists. Senior Audrey Latsko (Emmaus, Pa.) has played every minute in goal for Syracuse. She has 95 saves, a save percentage of .848, and has recorded six shutouts. Head Coach Kathleen Parker is in her 25th season at Syracuse and was named last season's BIG EAST Coach of the Year. This will mark the 20th meeting between Syracuse and Providence. The Orangewomen own a 10-4-5 all-time record against the Friars.

Providence College Friars (8-8/1-1): The Providence College field hockey team is coming off three consecutive victories at home as they travel to Syracuse to face the Orangewomen in a pivotal BIG EAST matchup. Last week, the Friars defeated Massachusetts (3-1), Rutgers (3-0) and Pacific (5-2). Providence was led to those three victories by Jennifer Chin (Norwood, Mass.). The senior forward scored five goals and added one assist in the three games. Chin garnered her Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Co-Player of the Week and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, for the week ending Sunday, October 13. On the year, Chin leads the Friars in every offensive category. She has team highs in goals (8), assists (5) and points (21). The Friar defense is led by current BIG EAST defensive player of the week Kara Lukens (Pennsburg, Pa). The senior back helped anchor a Friar defense that outscored its opponents, 11-3, in last weeks three games. Lukens recorded a goal in the win over Massachusetts and added an assist in victory against Pacific. First year Head Coach Diane Madl will attempt to become the first Providence field hockey coach to get a victory over Syracuse in her first attempt. The last meeting between the two schools on the Syracuse campus was a 2-1(ot) victory for Providence in 2000.
