PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior Jennifer Chin (Norwood, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week and senior Kara Lukens (Pennsburg, Pa.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors in field hockey, for the week ending Sunday, October 13. The announcement was made by the BIG EAST Conference office on Monday, October 14.

Chin led the Friars to a 3-0 record last week. She was credited with the game-winning goal in each of PC's three victories. The senior totaled 11 points on five goals and one assist. On Sunday, October 13, Chin tallied her first hat trick of the season in a 5-2 win over Pacific. Chin is currently tied for 17th-place on PC's all-time career scoring list with 51 points (22 goals, seven assists). She also moved into a tie for 10th place on the all-time career goals list with 22. Chin, a native of Norwood, Mass., is the daughter of Walton and Carol Chin.

Lukens, the team's starting sweeper, helped anchor a Friar defense that held its opponents to three goals in three games. Lukens recorded a defensive save and one goal in a 3-1 win over Massachusetts on October 9. She also registered one assist in a 5-2 win over Pacific on October 13. Lukens leads the Friars in defensive saves (two) and ranks second among her teammates in scoring with nine points on a career-high four goal and one assist. Lukens is a native of Pennsburg, Pa. and is the daughter of Allen and Carolyn Lukens.
