PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College junior goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.) was named ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Wednesday, October 8. It marks the third weekly honor for Chamberlain for her performance last week versus 13th-ranked Boston College, BIG EAST foe Villanova and 12th-ranked Princeton. In addition to ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week recognition, Chamberlain was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and WomensFieldHockey.com Player of the Week.

Chamberlain led the Friars to a 2-1 record last week. She helped guide the Friars to a 2-1, double-overtime, victory over 13th-ranked Boston College on October 1 with two saves. She followed that performance with her fourth shut-out victory of the season against BIG EAST foe Villanova on October 4 with four saves. It also marked the 16th shut out of her career as the Friars blanked the Wildcats by a score of 3-0. Chamberlain then recorded a season-high 14 saves in a 2-0 loss to 12th-ranked Princeton on October 5.

The Friars' stellar week propelled the squad into the NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll for the first time this season at No. 19. The five previous weeks, the Friars were receiving votes in the poll. Providence also catapulted into 15th in the WomensFieldHockey.com National Poll.

Providence returns to action on Saturday, October 11 against BIG EAST foe Rutgers at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Friars return to the field on Sunday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. when they play host to regional foe Boston University.
