PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College freshman field hockey player Abby Maguire (Southbury, Conn.) was tabbed Rookie Of The Week by WomensFieldHockey.com on Monday, October 4.

Maguire earned the honor after leading the Friars to a 1-0 record last week with a 2-1 win over Massachusetts in non-conference action. Maguire scored each of the Friars' two goals in the game after UMass took an early, 1-0, lead. Her second goal of the game proved to be the game winner.

Her two tallies marked the first multiple-goal game of her career.

The Friars are currently 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the BIG EAST Conference. Providence returns to action on Wednesday, October 6 against in-state rival Rhode Island. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Kingston, R.I.
