Field Hockey Players Henni Tietze And Steph Guglielmo Honored By BIG EAST

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey players Henni Tietze (Sankt Augustin, Germany) and Steph Guglielmo (Castle Rock, Colo) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, September 17 after helping the Friars to a 3-0 record last week. Providence earned victories over Holy Cross (3-2), BIG EAST foe Georgetown (5-2) and Towson (6-2) last week and are currently in the midst of a five-game win streak.

    Tietze anchored the Friar defense during the stretch and also proved to be a force on the offensive end for Providence as well. In three game last week, Tietze netted three goals and recorded one assist for seven points. She scored a single-game career high of two goals against Towson to finish off the week.

    Guglielmo, a forward, also scored seven points last week on two goals and three assists. Against Holy Cross, the Friars founds themselves trailing 2-0 in the first half. Guglielmo assisted on Providence's first goal of the game to get the squad within one (2-1) at halftime. She went on to score the game-winning goal with 6:53 remaining in regulation to give the Friars a 3-2 victory. Guglielmo finished off the week with an assist against Georgetown and one goal and one assist against Towson.

    The Friars return to action on Sunday, September 23 against 18th-ranked Boston College. The game will be played at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Live streaming video of the game will be offered via Providence's athletic web site at
