Sophomore forward Katharine Lary leads the Friar field hockey team in scoring with 15 points on five goals and five assists and has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College sophomore Katharine Lary (Canaan, N.H.) was named BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey, for the week ending Sunday, September 14. The announcement was made by the BIG EAST Conference office on Monday, September 15. It marks the second time this season, in a span of three weeks, that Lary has earned the honor.

Lary helped lead the Friars to a 2-0 record last week with non-conference wins over Holy Cross and Vermont. In the process, Lary recorded a total of 10 points in two games on three goals and four assists. On September 10, Providence defeated Holy Cross 5-4 in overtime. Lary notched two goals and two assists in the game, including the game-winning assist in overtime. On September 14, Lary contributed one goal and two assists in the Friars' 3-0 victory against Vermont. Her goal came just 2:20 into the first half of play and proved to be the game-winner. Lary leads the Friars with 15 points on five goals and five assists through the first five games of the 2003 schedule.

Providence College is currently 3-2 overall on the season and will face UMass in non-conference action on Saturday, September 20 in Amherst, Mass. at 1:00 p.m. The Friars will remain on the road for a match-up with Albany at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 21. PC's game against Albany will be played on the campus of Rensselaer Poly Institute (R.P.I.) in Troy, N.Y.
