CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Senior Hamish Thorpe (Auckland, New Zealand) of the Providence men's cross country team and sophomore goalkeeper Meaghan Moran (Framingham, Mass.) of the field hockey team, were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Tuesday, September 11.

Thorpe was selected as ECAC Runner of the Week among NCAA Division I competitors. He took a first-place finish at the University of New Hampshire Invitational in Durham, N.H. on Friday, September 7. He was one of five Friar runners to finish in the top-10, and led PC to a first-place team finish with a time of 24:36.

Moran recorded her first career shutout against the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday, September 5, as the Friars beat the Rams 1-0. She followed up her performance against Rhode Island with a second shutout against Sacred Heart on Sunday, September 9. The Friars beat the Pioneers 2-0. Moran is currently tied for first place among BIG EAST goalkeepers with two shutouts, and is ranked third in the conference with a 1.55 goals against average through four games. Moran earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Monday.

Both athletes will resume action with their respective teams on Tuesday, September 18. Men's cross country will travel to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Boston College Invitational at Franklin Park (3:30 p.m.). Field hockey will host Holy Cross at 4:00 p.m. on Hendricken Field.
