PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (3-2, 0-0 BIG EAST): The Providence College field hockey program returns home to the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. to host non-conference foe Harvard on September 12. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. The Friars are coming off of a disappointing, 1-0, loss to Holy Cross on September 10 in Worcester, Mass. In that game, the Friars outshot the Crusaders, 13-3, and held a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners. Entering Friday's game against Harvard, the Friars have featured a balanced offensive attack. Seven different players have scored goals for Providence, led by junior Nellie Poulin (Oakland, Maine), with three tallies. Sophomore Julie Ruggieri (Barrington, R.I.) has two goals, while five other Friars have chipped in one goal apiece. The defense has been anchored by junior goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain (Branford, Conn.), who has played all 350 minutes in the cage. Chamberlain owns a 1.40 goals against average and a 0.731 save percentage with one shutout. Following Providence's match-up with Harvard on Friday, the team will travel to Hanover, N.H. to take on Dartmouth. The game will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14. It will mark the third Ivy League opponent of the season for the Friars. PC is currently, 1-0, versus Ivy League institutions on the year.
HARVARD (1-1, 0-0 Ivy League): The Harvard Crimson come into Friday's game against Providence with a 1-1 overall record. Harvard opened the season with a 1-0 victory against Holy Cross on September 5, and followed with a 3-2 loss to New Hampshire on September 7. Through two games, Tami Jafar leads the team in scoring with four points on two goals. Chloe Keating has three points on one goal and one assist. Kylie Stone has played all 140 minutes in the cage for Harvard and has recorded a 1.50 goals against average and a 0.750 save percentage.
The Crimson have outshot their opponents, 20-17, and have held a decisive advantage in penalty corners (16-1).
