PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Erica Hebert (Enfield, CT) and senior Jamie Shipman (Spencer, MA) of Providence College have been named to the Preseason BIG EAST First Team in field hockey.

Hebert, a 1997 First Team All-BIG EAST select, returns as the team's top scorer from a year ago. She also led the BIG EAST in scoring a year ago. As a freshman, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie squad. Hebert is currently 20th in all-time scoring at the college with two seasons remaining to play. She tallied 29 points as a sophomore and 10 points as a freshman.

Shipman is a two-time All-BIG EAST Second Team pick and returns as the Friars' top defensive player. A native of nearby Spencer, MA, Shipman has played and started in the last 42 games.

The Friars are coming off an 11-10 overall record a year ago and a second place finish in the BIG EAST. The Friars are coached by newcomer Bill Davidson.
