2018 Providence College Field Hockey Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College field hockey Head Coach Diane Madl released her team’s 2018 fall schedule today [June 20]. Seven of the Friars’ 18 games will be played at home on Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I., including match-ups against three BIG EAST opponents.

Providence College kicks off the season with a three-game stretch on the West Coast against Cal Berkeley (Aug. 24), UC Davis (Aug. 26) and Pacific (Aug. 27).

Upon their return home to Providence, the Friars will play back-to-back games against intra-state rivals Brown and Bryant. The Friars will travel to the East Side to face the Bears on Sept. 1 and will host Bryant in their 2018 home opener at Lennon Family Field on Sept. 2.

Providence College will head to Durham, N.H. to face the New Hampshire Wildcats on Sept. 7, and will follow with a neutral-site game against Big Ten foe Iowa on Sept. 8.

The Friars open BIG EAST Conference play on the road against Old Dominion on Sept. 14, before returning to Providence for its second home game of the season against LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 16.

Three of the next four games will feature BIG EAST opponents, beginning with a conference tilt against Temple in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sept. 21. Providence will return to Lennon Family Field to host league-foe Villanova on Sept. 28, before making the short trip to Amherst, Mass. to face non-conference opponent Massachusetts on Sept. 30.

On Oct. 5, Providence will host BIG EAST Conference foe and defending 2017 NCAA National Champion and BIG EAST Conference Champion Connecticut. The Friars finish a two-game set in Providence, R.I. with its second home game of the weekend against Fairfield on Oct. 7.

Providence finishes the month of October and the regular-season schedule with two road games and two home games. On Oct. 12, the Friars head to Hamden, Conn. to face BIG EAST opponent Quinnipiac, and will return to Providence to host Lafayette in their final non-conference game of the season.



On Oct. 19, the Friars head to Washington, D.C. to take on the Georgetown Hoyas in league play and then close the regular-season schedule against BIG EAST foe Liberty on Oct. 26.
