PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rising sophomore Madison Deeds (Topton, Pa.) has been selected to compete in the 2017 USA Field Hockey Young Women’s National Championship. She joins fellow classmate Mikayla Michals (Needham, Mass.), who also was invited to play in the event [previous release on May 30]. The Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC) serves as a high-level, international structured competition which is a selection avenue to Junior National Camps and the Development Squad Camp. This event will take place at the Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. from June 12-16, 2017.

Deeds played in 10 games for the Friars and appeared in the starting line-up once during her rookie season in 2016. She registered her first collegiate point on an assist vs. UMass Lowell on Sept. 25.

Prior to college, Deeds attended Brandywine Heights High School, where she was a two-time All-State Second Team selection (2014, 2015). During her career, she tallied 83 career points on 26 goals and 31 assists.

During the Young Women’s National Championship, Deeds will compete for USA Red. Michals will compete with USA Patriots. Deeds and Michals will face one another during the tournament, in a showdown set for Wednesday, June 14 at Noon.
