PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Here is the the eighth installment of Meet The Friars, featuring members of the Providence College field hockey program. In this edition, we get to check in with freshman midfielder Emma Mackie (Delta, British Columbia).
As a rookie with the Friars in 2012, Emma started 17 of the team's 18 games at midfield. She scored seven points on two goals and three assists.
Let's meet Emma Mackie!
1. Why did you decide to come to Providence College?
I decided to come to Providence because I had a great sense of community and home as soon as I stepped on campus. Being so far from home, I wanted to make sure I felt comfortable and welcomed and that is exactly what PC is like. Also, the chance to play Division I field hockey and be at a prestigious academic institution was a major plus.
2. What place in the world would you most like to visit? Why?
I would most like to visit Greece because it seems like such a beautiful place, with an amazing culture surrounding it, that the experience would be amazing. Also, for the clear blue water, great beaches and the good food!
3. What is your favorite season? Why?
My favorite season is summer, for sure, because I love going to the beach and being outside in the sunshine. Also, everyone just seems generally happier in the summer. Not being in school and being pretty much care free doesn't hurt either.
4. What one of your mom's home cooked meals best describes your personality?
One of my mom's home cooked meals that best describes me would probably be her meringue's with strawberries. It's one of my favorite desserts as it always reminds me of home and I could probably eat 20 of them! With fresh strawberries it also makes you feel of summer and if you add whipped cream you cannot go wrong!
