Field Hockey Program Honored For Excellence In The Classroom By The NFHCA

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College field hockey program has earned 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA National Academic Team Award. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a team grade-point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.

    Additionally, Providence College junior forward Sally Adua (Madison, Conn.) earned Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction recognition. The outstanding student-athletes recognized as Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. Adua, who is working toward a degree in biology, with a minor in business studies, is a three-time NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad selection (2011-13) and a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star honoree (2011-12).

    Joining Adua on the Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad are graduate student Jen Abrams (Reading, Mass.), sophomore Deidra Clymer (South Windsor, Conn.), senior Emily Jensen (Blandon, Pa.), senior Emilie Stehly (Valley Center, Calif.) and senior Kathi Weidman (Millersville, Pa.). The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. Stehly also earned special recognition by the NFHCA as a four-time National Academic Squad honoree.
