The Providence College field hockey team was among the list of NCAA Division I field hockey squads to earn the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for earning a team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester. In addition to the Team Award, the Friars had three student-athletes named to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The NFHCA announced the award winners on March 5.
To earn a spot on the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad a student-athlete must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the completion of the 2011 fall semester. On the list of honorees for the Friars was senior defender Ashley Mulkey (Windham, N.H.), junior defender Emilie Stehly (Valley Center, Calif.) and sophomore Sally Adua (Madison, Conn.). Stehly has earned the honor during each of her three seasons with the Friars, while Mulkey and Adua have been named to the National Academic Squad twice.
