PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Greater Providence Chapter of the Providence College Alumni Association will hold the Mal Brown Club Awards Night on Thursday, March 27 at the Smith Center for the Arts on the PC campus. Senior Tyler Sims (Fort Wayne, Ind.), a member of the Friar ice hockey team, will receive the Joseph V. MacAndrew Award, while senior Kiley Morgart (Mountaintop, Pa.), a player on the field hockey team, will receive the Helen Bert Award.

Sims has set several school records as a goalie. He is PC's record holder in games played (111) and shutouts (seven). He also ranks fifth all-time with 2,699 career saves. This season, he has played in 27 games and has posted three shutouts, which is tied for the Hockey East lead. He was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for January. Sims, a double major in history and economics, has recorded a 3.36 grade point average. He has been named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team twice.

Morgart never missed a game (61 games played) in her four years at Providence College and appeared in the starting lineup each time. She earned All-BIG EAST Academic honors all four years and was named to the NFCHA Division I National Academic Squad in 2006 and 2007. As a junior last season, Morgart helped lead her team to one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Friars posted an 18-4 record and earned a share of the BIG EAST Conference Regular-Season Championship and finished runner-up at the 2006 BIG EAST Championship. Morgart, a social work major, has a 3.53 GPA.

The evening will begin with a reception in the lobby of the Smith Center for the Arts from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The awards presentation will follow in the Ryan Family Concert Hall and the evening will conclude with an elaborate dessert presentation.
